ART DEFIANCE/ART DEFINES US Finding voice under siege: With Arlan Huang, Cal Hsiao and Siyan Wong

  • Think!Chinatown's Studio 1 Pike Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

How can art spark reflection, resistance and social change? What can we as artists collectively do in these pivotal times? Join three multi-generational artists for a thought-provoking afternoon of conversation with slideshows and screenings.

Plus, add your image to Arlan Huang’s newly installed artwork “This Painting Fights Fascism”.

Arlan Huang (visual artist): “I make art to keep from falling into despair. I paint to exercise my First amendment right of free speech. My new work is called “ This Painting Fights Fascism”.

Cal Hsiao (photographer and community organizer based in South Brooklyn, currently focused on teaching youth workshops): “I believe in the power of art to help people imagine that a different world is possible.”

Siyan Wong (visual artist): “I believe art can be a vehicle for positive change and social justice. It's a universal language.”

This program is part of #FallOfFreedom this November 21–22, a nationwide movement of artists, writers, musicians, and creators standing together for expression without limits.
