Open Call: Printmaking for Block Party!
Block Party from 2024, with Artwork by Annika Cheng (also shown at MCNY). This interactive art installation by Annika Cheng proudly displays recycled textiles from the Chinatown community. Think!Chinatown Block Parties attendees were invited to contribute garments and textile remnants that hold a special significance in their lives.
Project Description & Requirements: We are looking for a print making project (open to any kind of printmaking, such as linocut, silkscreen, stamp). You’ll be printmaking sample banners to be hung up at our Block Parties, then you’ll host a flow-thru workshop where Block Party participants can print more banners AND their own t-shirts or tote bags. On the day of the Block Part(ies), you’ll be supported by the T!C team. You can use previously made designs if they are applicable, but this project should include specifically commissioned artwork. The theme of the designs should tie in closely with Chinatown, appeal to an intergenerational Chinatown audience, and carry the joyous spirit of the block party! You must be available May 31, 2026 and August 30, 2026.
Submission deadline: Open on April 1. Closed by April 23, 11:59pm.
