Open call: We are looking for people with stories of fleeing Vietnam to escape hardship after the Vietnam War and have made connections to Manhattan Chinatown. Have you heard these stories from family members or loved ones, or lived this experience yourself?
Location and Dates: We’re bringing back our community recording days to build a brand new Manhattan Chinatown collection on VBP’s digital Journeys Map. We invite you to bring in your family, friends, & neighbors to record a 40-minute oral history interview together on March 29 & April 18, to Think!Chinatown’s Studio (1 Pike Street (at Division St), New York, NY 10002).
Details: Our T!C Story Team will guide you the process of preparing, interviewing, and recording your interview. Through these recordings, projects emerge. For instance, a story may be selected to be a part of T!C’s Storytelling projects such as our Art of Storytelling or Landmarks. Bringing together art and storytelling, our project challenges us to reimagine how we collectively remember, honor, and share the stories of our communities. Each storyteller will also receive a raw copy of their recording as a keepsake. *Please read through this entire page before booking your recording!
